Rainbow what?

I am first and foremost a nail polish whore. You don't understand when I say that obsessed is an understatement. I was a nail biter - a chewer - a chomper - I would chew my nails down to nothing. Until one day in October 2010 and a family member commented on how ugly my nails were. Harsh - but I get it - they were hideous. It was then that I decided that I would change my nail biting habit and stop all together. That was 4 years ago this month and all 4 of those years have been nail bite free. On the other hand I have turned into a nail polish addict - so when I hear about new companies that feed my addiction - lets just say that I get a little too excited. When Cindy told me about Rainbow Honey I could barely contain myself, I was becoming irritated and unhappy with Julep - that's another story for another day - and I needed some new colors to spice up my life.

This October, one color caught my eye - well, the name caught my eye at first - then the color...Apple Peel, a beautiful fall inspired red with flecks of gold. I knew that I had to try it. I ended up ordering the larger bottle for $10.00 and believe me I was not disappointed. 

But - you're probably wondering why I fell in love with Apple Peel, right? Well...here's why...feast your eyes on Rainbow Honey's glorious Apple Peel!

It's so beautiful for the fall and you know what? I keep envisioning this color to be a great color for around Christmas too! For my manicure I made sure to use my Orly Nailtrition and Orly Bonder for my base. One coat of each, making sure to cap the tip of my nail with the Bonder. I always use both since Naitrition helps to keep my nails healthy, growing, and strong, while the Bonder makes polishes stay on my nails longer. I did two thin coats of Apple Peel and then sealed with my tried and true Orly Polishield. I also made sure to cap the tips of my nails with both Apple Peel and my Polishield top coat.

I am super excited about this mani. It's the perfect fall color - I can't wait to see what my co-workers think tomorrow! Apple Peel is a vibrant red and went on very smooth, it's getting a 5/5 from me for sure! I cannot wait to see what Rainbow Honey comes up with next month!

Silky soft and smooth!

All too often we look for hair products that boast they will repair your hair and leave it hair feeling soft and smooth. All too often I have been left feeling the disappointment of such products as they leave my hair neither soft or smooth. I usually end up with either a greasy mop or the classic raggamuffin hair - you know, hair that has fly aways and goes every direction but the one you want it to? I have been so disappointed over these magical damage repairing solutions that I have stopped all together. It became too pricey and in the end I was losing. Until it was suggested that I try another product. Ugh. I didn't feel like paying $12.99 to try a product that I didn't know if it would work on my hair or not. Here is the so called magic softening product. Not only is it promising to repair my damaged hair, but it will leave it feeling soft and silky smooth. 

I get home and naturally it's too late to do my hair so I make a mental note to try after my morning shower. The directions are simple: after washing your hair, apply a small amount of the product to your damp hair and then blow dry. I do as it says. Shower and wash my hair. Then I towel dry, apply the product, and finally blow dry. 

My hair was soft. My hair was smooth. No fly aways. Wait. What? Does this product actually work?

Here is my result and clearly with my color, I had some damage to be repaired. 

How could this be? How could my messy, raggamuffin hair be transformed into this sleek, smooth, and soft style? I decided that I would wait a few days and try again. I would use my flat iron to style, freezing spray to lock my styles, I would blow dry when I washed it. Use my dry shampoo when I didn't. I had to see if I could get this same result again. My result? Every single time I have used this product...no matter what I do to my hair...I get a sleek, super soft style. Talk about impressed! But, the little packs don't last forever. I can get about seven days worth of use from the little packet - and I don't wash my hair every day to be kind to my locks.
