Why I stalk my mailman...

Two words...

RAINBOW HONEY

(I told you that I was addicted.)

For those familiar with Rainbow Honey you can see that I did get the January 2015 mystery bag but I also had a lot of special add ons to include the January 2014 LE set AND the January 2015 LE set. All I know right now is that the Fallen Snow scent smells amazing and I already love the lip scrub! I will keep you posted as you can imagine I will be trying all of these amazing polishes. Clearly I have a lot of boxes to open ;) guess you'll just have to stay tuned and see.

Until next time! ♥Trista

Perfectly pink!

So I've always loved pink on my nails. And since I'm an author by night who penned out the Believe series I'm drawn to things that remind me of my books. Rainbow Honey of course came out with a Believe limited edition collection in October and I won't lie...I bought it just for the name. I wasn't surprised to find beautiful shades of pink quick to capture even the hearts of those who despise pink. I wasn't sure if I would add any of the glitter toppers but when I put Keep Believing on I loved it so much that I decided to just wear it as it was and nix any glitter toppers.

Keep Believing is the perfect pink for any girlie girl or a certain upcoming lovey, dovey holiday in February. It's a simple pink that goes on fairly sheer (I needed  3 coats to achieve this brighter effect) with tiny, tiny flecks of silver. I plan on trying it out for Valentine's day myself for some pink little hearts and other cutesy designs that make you just want to puke ;) If you want to sign up or give Rainbow Honey a try you can find them at their site, rainbowhoney.com I promise you won't regret it.

Until next time! ♥Trista

I pink puffy heart Rainbow Honey

So as we all know Rainbow Honey is the latest Indie company that has stolen my...er...nails. Every month I find myself stalking the poor mailman for my latest mystery bag. Poor guy! But, each and every month I am ecstatic with the goodies that they send me. And now I'm finding that they have more than just beautiful nail colors up their sleeves. I received the December 2014 goodies and like everyone was pleased with each and every goodie I get. Like a lot of people for December 2014 I added Gingered! to my order. Sadly I didn't have a lot of time to review the polish right away but finally got to it a few weeks back. This was the outcome...

This is a beautiful golden orange/red color. I immediately fell in love! But as soon as I opened the bottle I noticed something else...right out of the bottle....IT SMELLS LIKE A GINGERBREAD MAN!! I had a fan girl right on the couch. Not only is it a beautiful color but it smells amazing! It raised the bar for scented nail polishes for me as most that I have tried have honestly stunk the high heavens...ew. Rainbow Honey has wowed me again! I am for sure a life customer...they have me hooked! Remember, Rainbow Honey is an Indie company and you can order their products is through their site. rainbowhoney.com I promise that you won't be disappointed and even better, their shipping is super fast! (even to me all the way up here in Alaska!)

Until next time! ♥Trista

What girl doesn't love Tiffany blue?

I've been a fan of China Glaze for years. With the China clay acting as a hardener they've built my once weak, brittle nails up to thick, long, and healthy ones. So when I wanted a color from their core collection that I can guarantee will always be around I reach for their For Audrey, which of course if their take on Tiffany & Co's special blue named for the iconic film Breakfast At Tiffany's. Because what girl doesn't love Tiffany blue?

China Glaze has an amazing core collection that can be found at any of your local Sally Beauty Supply. If you haven't seen the new nail bar at Sally's you need to...now. And if you're looking for a classic blue that is tried and true, reach for China Glaze's For Audrey.

Until next time! ♥Trista

China Glaze Holiday 2014

Because it's that wonderful time of year that polish companies compete to make the best holiday colors and I have been lucky enough to snag quite a few of the new shades. It seems like more often that not - like in the case of Orly's Mirrorball - that the holiday colors seem over done. It becomes a been there, seen that situation. This year China Glaze has a few colors that are a little off the red, silver, green, and gold norm - which I am thrilled to see. I was super excited to see CG's new No Peeking (a shade of purple) and Dancing and Prancing (a chunky, rainbow glitter). It was different, it was bold. I get so tired of just red, green, gold, and silver and there's only so much that you can do with it. I don't want to walk around all of December with little Christmas tress on my nails - however cute they may be. Have a peek below and see why I am so excited for this dash of purple and rainbow glitter.

No Peeking is a very thick and bright purple. It has such great coverage that I was able to get away with just one coat. Since I wanted the purple to pop from the below the glitter I decided to just dab the glitter in little drops just below the cuticle. It was so refreshing to see a shade other than the typical Christmas colors. I was also shocked that No Peeking went on so bright and even in just on coat. I at least don't feel like these are just every other years holiday colors that I'm sporting. This sprinkle some twinkle duo is getting a 5/5 from me.

I have a lot more colors to try, including the Finger Paints gel line and Rainbow Honey's limited edition November berries collection!

Until next time! ♥Trista

Orly Mirrorball - 2014 holiday collection

I finally got chance to give one of the new polishes a try! I had a hard time deciding on while color to go with bu I ended up deciding on Orly's Mirrorball. This is one of Orly's brand new 2014 holiday collection. I will start this with saying that it is a holographic and to me, a holo polish is a holo polish and it's just that - a holo polish. It is thinner so I ended up doing three thin coats. It is a beautiful holo but to be honest with you, it's nothing special. Like I said - a holo polish is a holo polish. It is pretty and I think this one would be best for a fun New Year's Eve mani to ring in the new year or maybe a little sparkle for Christmas. All in all, it's just an every day holo that we've all probably seen before.

My overall rating is a 3/5 simply because it's a holo and they're really all over at this point. Everyone has their own holos and I guess I'm just over the phase. Other than that, it is a beautiful color for the holidays. I guess I just expected more from Orly.

Have you tried Mirrorball? What did you think? Post your swatches below.

Until next time! ♥Trista

Nail polish as far as you can see!

We all know it's that wonderful time of year that nail polish companies get to release all of their fabulous holiday colors. I am one of those people that patiently waits for the companies to release a the names and swatches of the new colors. Needless to say, since I am a polish addict, I can't choose just one or two, it's just too hard. Matter a fact, I was working when the truck came in with all of the polishes. I could hardly control myself. All I could see were those beautiful new colors that I had never seen before. Well...long story short...

My house looks a little something like this now...Yeah...that's the entire China Glaze holiday collection, the entire Orly holiday collection, two of the Finger Paints holiday collection, some Sally Girl scented minis, and a trial of Orly's new polish remover. Looks my hands will be tied for a few weeks!

Who is excited for me to swatch these colors? Is anyone else trying any of the holiday colors? Post your swatches for us to see!

Until next time! ♥Trista

Rainbow what?

I am first and foremost a nail polish whore. You don't understand when I say that obsessed is an understatement. I was a nail biter - a chewer - a chomper - I would chew my nails down to nothing. Until one day in October 2010 and a family member commented on how ugly my nails were. Harsh - but I get it - they were hideous. It was then that I decided that I would change my nail biting habit and stop all together. That was 4 years ago this month and all 4 of those years have been nail bite free. On the other hand I have turned into a nail polish addict - so when I hear about new companies that feed my addiction - lets just say that I get a little too excited. When Cindy told me about Rainbow Honey I could barely contain myself, I was becoming irritated and unhappy with Julep - that's another story for another day - and I needed some new colors to spice up my life.

Rainbow Honey is a cosmetic company right here in the U.S. who offers a wide variety of beauty goodies - to include their monthly mystery bags available in two different sizes and affordable prices! I immediately signed up to receive their monthly mini mystery bag and well...we'll say I have fallen in love.

Taste the Rainbow Honey

This October, one color caught my eye - well, the name caught my eye at first - then the color...Apple Peel, a beautiful fall inspired red with flecks of gold. I knew that I had to try it. I ended up ordering the larger bottle for $10.00 and believe me I was not disappointed.

But - you're probably wondering why I fell in love with Apple Peel, right? Well...here's why...feast your eyes on Rainbow Honey's glorious Apple Peel!

It's so beautiful for the fall and you know what? I keep envisioning this color to be a great color for around Christmas too! For my manicure I made sure to use my Orly Nailtrition and Orly Bonder for my base. One coat of each, making sure to cap the tip of my nail with the Bonder. I always use both since Naitrition helps to keep my nails healthy, growing, and strong, while the Bonder makes polishes stay on my nails longer. I did two thin coats of Apple Peel and then sealed with my tried and true Orly Polishield. I also made sure to cap the tips of my nails with both Apple Peel and my Polishield top coat.

Grab Orly's Nailtrition

Grab Orly's Bonder

Grab Orly's Polishield

Grab Rainbow Honey's Apple Peel

I am super excited about this mani. It's the perfect fall color - I can't wait to see what my co-workers think tomorrow! Apple Peel is a vibrant red and went on very smooth, it's getting a 5/5 from me for sure! I cannot wait to see what Rainbow Honey comes up with next month!

Until next time! ♥ Trista
